Big Pot of Coffee & Little Coffee Table
This morning Brandi & I are tackling a large pot of coffee & a small boring coffee table.
Here is our coffee table with the legs off before we got started.
Ok, so a couple big cups of coffee, 10 sheets of sanding paper & an hour 1/2 later we got down to seeing the beauty of our project! Doesn't the wood grain on this make your heart skip a beat! We debated on sealing it just like this we loved it so much!!!
But... we had a vision & we moved on to the next step. PAINT! We painted it w/ a latex paint, applying 2 full coats, letting it dry completely in between. Patience is NOT our gift, waiting was a difficult task for the two of us so we split up to handle household duties in between drying times. This is what it looked like after 2 coats of our awesome turquoise paint.
As you can see we barely hit the crevices since we knew we wanted lots of contrast.
So now for the fun part! SANDING off the layers! This part makes us feel like artists. A little here, a lot there... letting the wood keep what it wanted & giving what it wanted. I think we sanded & circled the table for over an hour before we were satisfied, but satisfied we WERE! Check out the final pictures to see how awesome it turned out!
GASP! Isn't it amazing? We are totally in love with it & not ready to sell it at all, we want to look at it for a while I think! :)
Please feel free to leave comments, advice or other finish ideas for future pieces! Thanks for stopping by & checking it out!
